After a couple of months we are back with new Late night food reviews! The reason for this taking a bit longer than first expected is simply the lack of late night food eaten recently, but I paid Mårtens Kebab House, located at Mårtenstorget, a visit last week right after singing Stad i Ljus at Göteborgs Nation.

We find an empty table and have a seat. This evening, there was not as much people as there tend to be at Mårtens during the night, which at times, according to my experience, can result in long waiting lines at times. It might have been less people that night as it was the week before the mythical ‘’Tenta-P’’ for students at LTH, resulting in a smaller crowd out dancing at the nations or possibly T-bar. The restaurant itself was, at the time of our visit, very clean. They have among the more modern locals when it comes to places serving late night food in Lund, even though, in my own opinion, the cozyness factor in the restaurant could be increased. One aspect which is great about Mårtens is their generous opening hours; it is open until 04 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 05 at Fridays and Saturdays.

I chose to order a Capricciosa together with a friend, and we sit down and wait for our order to be prepared. My friend chooses to have mixed sauce on his half of the pizza, which is complimentary. Usually, I am not the kind of guy who has sauce on a pizza. Maybe if I have ordered a so called ‘’Kebabpizza’’, but not during any other circumstances. The menu itself is very diverse and you can order lots of various items which will satisfy your needs after a long night out dancing. However, unlike Challes, they do not have a store connected to the restaurant, but just like ‘’Gott och Nära’’, this is not to be expected.

After a couple of minutes, the pizza gets ready and we have it served at our table. It had spent a good amount of time in the oven, not too doughy but not burnt either. The toppings on the capricciosa left a bit more to wish, maybe not the absolutely finest ham and mushrooms on top of the pizza. They were however not directly bad. Overall, the pizza met my expectations and was absolutely fine in my opinion, but you find better pizzas of other places in Lund, both during the daytime and during the night. Mårtens will satisfy your needs during the night, however.

Overall, the food and the overall experience was ok, but nothing extraordinary either. Mårtens Kebab House gets a solid 3 out of 5 Skånisar.
